Philippe Mexes is no stranger to the flamboyant.
Boasting long blonde hair in a tight little ponytail, the French defender isn’t your tradition rough and tumble central defender.
But it isn’t his appearance which misguides opponents and fans into thinking he could be attacker.
It’s his ridiculous goalscoring exploits – as shown with this utterly scandalous goal in AC Milan’s friendly win over city rivals Inter in China this afternoon.
Lurking at the edge of the Inter box, Mexes met a clipped pass from Giacomo Bonaventura with as flush as flying volley as you’re every likely to see.
And frankly our words don’t really do the Frenchman justice so here it is in all its glory:
Who ever thought Mexes would outdo the goal he scored in the Champions League against Anderlecht in November, 2012:

Seeing both of these goals makes us wonder why AC Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic doesn’t play Mexes as a striker – especially when you consider he was part of the Milan defence which conceded 50 goals to finish 10th in Serie A last season.
