Jordon Ibe has revealed he worked with Kenny Dalglish to get ready for the new English Premier League season with Liverpool.
After breaking into Brendan Rodgers’ squad last season, the Anfield youngster goes into the new season as one of the strongest players after an impressive pre-season campaign.
Ibe made 14 appearances last term, but goes into his first full season with a real chance of featuring consistently – especially following the sale of Raheem Sterling to Manchester City.
And he’s revealed that work with Liverpool coach Alex Inglethorpe as well as Kop legend Dalglish has helped him get into shape for the upcoming campaign – which kicks off against Stoke City this Sunday.
Ibe spoke to liverpoolfc.com and said:
I spoke about it with Alex Inglethorpe and the manager had suggested to him that I do some extra sessions to keep myself ticking over during the summer.
I’m definitely feeling the benefits of that. All the little bits of extra work add up. I have to give a lot of credit to Alex. It was great to come in and work with someone like Kenny.
I’ve done some extra training sessions at Melwood as well, so hopefully it’ll all add up for me.
Ibe will have some new faces alongside him as Liverpool start the season hoping to improve on their sixth-placed finish last term.
Rodgers has added Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino, Danny Ings, James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne, Joe Gomez and Adam Bogdan with Steven Gerrard the only major player to have left the club.
And fans must feel confident that they can challenge at the top of the Premier League in the year ahead.
