Qarabag Fans Use Banner to Tell Celtic: You Are Slave of England

Some Qarabag fans had a go at trying to rile up Celtic and their supporters last night as they held aloft a banner which read: You are slave of England.

In bringing up Scotland’s ties to the United Kingdom, and perhaps with a nod to last year’s referendum vote which saw the Scots vote against independence, the supporters hoped they could get the Hoops angry ahead of their Champions League clash in Baku.

But it failed to work as Ronny Deila’s men earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw to advance to the play-off stage with a 1-0 aggregate scoreline.

It was a difficult night for the Scottish champions though, who were faced with a dodgy pitch, sweltering heat and some pressure from the Azerbaijan crowd.

Stefan Johansen probably should have guaranteed Celtic’s place in the next round much earlier as he missed a golden opportunity in the second-half.

But it worked out in the end – and Deila’s side will now learn their Euro fate in Friday’s draw.

Another picture of the Qarabag supporters aiming a dig at Celtic has surfaced:
