The world’s fastest man crossed the finished line with a time of 19.55s to claim his 2nd gold medal at the 15th IAAF Championships in Beijing. Bolt had narrowly edged out Gatlin in the 100m final four days ago but the Jamaican comfortably took out his biggest rival in his favourite event.

Bolt’s victory has also broken Gatlin’s world best in the 200m this year of 19.57s prior to the race.
The two had only met once in the event 10 years ago at the world championships in Helsinki where Gatlin was victorious prior to the much anticipated race.
Anaso Jobodwana of South Africa completed the podium with a national record time of 19.87s.
The victory takes Jamaica to third in the medal table with Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce also having success in the women’s 100m.
