Javier Hernandez left Manchester United this afternoon to join German side Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth in the region of £8 million.

It was clear from day one that the Mexican wasn’t fancied by Louis van Gaal, with the United boss shipping ‘Chicharito’ off to Real Madrid on loan last summer.
During last week’s horror show in Brugges, Hernandez’s glory days at Old Trafford felt like a lifetime ago but it’s easy to forget that the tricky poacher scored 59 times in 157 games for United, wining the Premier League twice.
This is the striker that Sir Alex Ferguson deemed good enough to start the 2011 Champions League Final up front, instead of opting to play a fifth midfielder to combat Barcelona’s formidable midfield.

It looks likely that ‘Little Pea’ will go on to score a bucket full of goals in the Bundesliga, given Leverkusen put an arm around his should and build their attack around him.
