We’re all used to Floyd Mayweather running his mouth, spounting outlandish opinions on what feels like a daily basis.
And in his latest diatribe, ‘Money’ lists his top five fighters of all-time and there’s a couple of eyebrow-raisers, most notably the position of Muhammad Ali.
Regarded by many as the best boxer in the history of the sport, Ali is indeed sited as an influence of Mayweather but he only just scrapes in at fifth position.
Robert Duran, Phernell Whitaker and Julio Cesar Chavez all rank higher than Ali. There’s no room for Mike Tyson, nor Joe Frazier, and the great Sugar Ray Robinson is noticeably absent too.
And you can only imagine our shock here at TB headquarters when Floyd eventually places himself at the top of the list.
Could this be a bit of a publicity stunt from the Mayweather camp with an uninspiring, low-key fight against Andre Berto approaching? Surely not!
