Rory McIlroy is back hitting a ball after rupturing his ankle ligament last month – offering hope that he’ll be at the USPGA Championship next week.
The Northern Irishman missed out on appearing at The Open in St Andrews in July after picking up the injury while playing football with his friends.
He was forced to use crutches and posted pictures to his Instagram account wearing a recovery boot on his left ankle.
But more promising pictures have emerged today – as well as a video of McIlroy hitting a driver.
The four-time major winner posted this video and wrote:
Feels good to hit the driver again!
McIlroy will be hoping to be ready for action when the USPGA kicks off at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin a week today.
One man who will definitely be there is two-time major champ Jordan Spieth.
He has shared pictures this week of him practicing on Whistling Straits and will be targeting a third championship of the year with his first ever USPGA win.
