Anthony Martial Almost Missed Manchester United’s Team Bus Ahead of His Full Debut Against PSV

Anthony Martial enjoyed a decent enough full debut for Manchester United in Holland last night, showing strong link-up play and good movement against PSV.

But the Frenchman almost didn’t make it to the Philips Stadion at all after missing the Manchester United team bus leave their hotel.

Apparently, no one in the United squad or staff noticed that their £36 million signing wasn’t present as the coach began to leave the car park. Fortunately, Martial emerged from his hotel room looking a little dishevelled and worried, before being ushered onto the bus.

Despite playing well throughout, Martial couldn’t make the difference for United, who lost 2-1.

The game was obviously overshadowed by the horrific injury sustained by Luke Shaw, with the club confirming that the left-back had remained in the Netherlands to have an operation on the double-break on his right leg.

Defender Hector Moreno, who inflicted the injury on Shaw, rubbed salt into the wounds by scoring on the night to condemn the Red Devils to an opening day defeat in the Champions League.
