Did Tottenham Target Saido Berahino Just Go On Strike at West Brom?

Deadline day just got interesting.

Forget Man Utd and Anthony Martial, forget Chelsea signing ex-Aberdeen centre-backs, or Virgil Van Dijk moving to Southampton.

The real story of this year’s transfer window is bubbling along nicely at West Brom, with star striker Saido Berahino desperate to move to Tottenham.

Up until now, Spurs have had four bids rejected for the England under-21 internationalist, with West Brom holding out for a fee thought to be in the region of £25 million.

It had been assumed that a comprimised would finally be reached ahead of the 6pm deadline, but Berahino’s latest tweet certainly suggest that the powers that be hand put the kibosh on any proposed move to White Hart Lane…

It’s tough to decipher exactly what his little tantrum means; he’ll never play Jeremy Peace? Does he mean play for? Who knows.

But what does look pretty certain is that a transfer is unlikely to go through between now and the window slamming shut.
