Tottenham forward Emmanuel Adebayor is claiming to need a sign from God before he will leave the North London side.
To put it bluntly, Adebayor has been a massive thorn in Spurs’ side for about a year now, collecting his huge £100,000 weekly wage packet whilst watching games from the stands.
There has been plenty of interest in the Togo international, with Aston Villa and West Ham vying for his signature. The Hammers appeared close to securing his signature ahead of the summer transfer window slamming shut, but 6pm came and went with Ade still at White Hart Lane.
According to the Telegraph, the imposing former Arsenal star turned down a bumper pay-off from Tottenham to join another team because he needed some sort of divine intervention.
The newspaper go on to claim that Adebayor has consulted his pastor of the prospect of moving to Aston Villa but needed a clearer sign from the powers that be. That’s in heaven, not Villa Park.
The astonishing claims are a little ironic considering we’re sure that a lot of Spurs fans have also been wishing to God that Adebayor would leave their club for sometime now.
