Javier Hernandez has revealed that Bastian Schweinsteiger talked him into moving to Bayer Leverkusen from Manchester United.
‘Chicharito’ moved from Old Trafford on transfer deadline day after falling out of favour and enduring a miserable spell under Louis Van Gaal.
The Mexican was swamped with offers from clubs happy to help reignite his career, including propositions from the Premier League, MLS, La Liga and Seria A.
But in the end the 27-year-old opted for a fresh start in Germany, and his brief United team mate Bastian Schweinsteiger played a pivotal role in his choice.
Naturally I spoke with Basti. He had a lot of good thigns to say about Bayer, their way of playing and their coach (Roger Schmidt).
That was a very big help for me.
At his presentation in Germany, the striker talked about his desire to put a troubled two years behind him.
I want to go back to feeling important and happy. I want to find happiness.
Bayer made me feel important and loved and coming here was not a difficult decision to make. They made me feel wanted.
I want to help and achieve important things. I have felt very loved. I hope to accomplish things in my head and in my heart.
