Celtic are looking for a new development coach after Stevie Frail announced he was leaving the post earlier this month.
The former Hearts first-team caretaker manager informed the club and media on September 2 that he was “seeking a new challenge in football”.
The rumour mill amongst the Celtic support has gone into overdrive since Frail’s departure, with various suggestions put forward for who cold replace him.
But few Hoops supporters expected to see the name of Pat Fenlon on the shortlist.
But, according to The Scotsman, current Shamrock Rovers boss Fenlon is indeed in the frame.
The Irishman last managed in Scotland with Hibs between 2011 – 2013, in what can only be described as a disastrous reign.
Not to be too unkind, but Fenlon oversaw various catastrophes during his time in Edinburgh, including a infamous 5-1 cup final defeat to rivals Hearts and an embarrassing 9-0 Europa League drubbing at the hands of Malmo.
And to put the icing on the cake, Hibs were relegated not long after Fenlon was sacked, and a variety of different players were quick to criticise his coaching methods.
So why are Celtic reportedly interested in him now? We’re not entirely sure, and it looks like a lot of football fans aren’t either…
