Jack Grealish has taken to Twitter to express his sadness at the news of Tim Sherwood’s sacking as Aston Villa boss.

Sherwood has his contract terminated after a run of six straight defeats in the Premier League.

Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Swansea proved to be the final straw for the Villa board despite Sherwood keeping them in the division last season and reaching the FA Cup Final.

Grealish, who also represents the Republic of Ireland at Under-21s level, made an apology to fans on Twitter after their latest loss – and insisted that the players should take responsibility.

Villa confirmed on their website that the search to find a new manager is already under way.

The bookmakers have current Real Sociedad boss David Moyes as the early favourite for the hotseat.
