Francesco Totti has revealed he is targeting 400 goals in his career – despite being 39 and hitting his 300th strike just weeks ago.
It was a landmark moment for a player who scored his first goal for the capital club in 1994 – 21 years before his 300th strike came.
But he doesn’t appear to be done yet – despite his age and lack of playing time under Rudi Garcia.
Totti has played just three games this season and has missed their last two through injury after coming off 10 minutes into a substitutes’ appearance against Carpi last month.
Regardless, he’s still appears to have the fire in his belly which comes with all great goalscorers.
And he’s revealed that he wants to score 100 more career goals before he calls time on his career.
He told La Gazzetta dello Sport:
My ambition is to reach 400 goals. The most beautiful one I have scored in my career was the goal in 2001 against Parma as that was one that ensured we would win the Scudetto.
With that aspiration, it’s going to be another few years before the Italian legend hangs up his boots.
And he may have to continue his scoring form at another club, with his impact for Roma looking smaller and smaller with every career.
But what a career that will be whenever Totti finally decides to give it up.
