Jose Mourinho has revealed he knows nothing about Falcao planning to leave Chelsea and insists he picks the best striker to lead his team.
The Stamford Bridge boss was talking ahead of his side’s Champions League group game away to Dynamo Kiev tomorrow night.
According to The Mirror, Falcao could be ready to quit the club in January after making just two starts in nine appearances so far this season.
He’s been forced to play second fiddle to Diego Costa and with the Spaniard being back in scoring form against Aston Villa at the weekend, you would expect the Colombian to continue warming the bench.
Mourinho’s take on it all? He doesn’t believe Falcao wants to leave, but insisted the best player will get the nod between the two.
Speaking to the press after his side touched down in Kiev, Mourinho said (via The Mirror):
It’s strange that the media knows something I don’t know.
He has to give us more than Diego… we play with one striker and I always go for the performance level.
It’s a direct competition. The best one plays.
So Falcao knows what he has to do to get more opportunities at Chelsea and give himself a chance of remaining at the club beyond his loan spell from Monaco ending at the end of the season.
He’ll certainly need to score more than the one goal he has to his name as well.
