Alexis Sanchez blasted away any thoughts that a Peruvian tortoise curse would stop him performing last night by scoring a double and setting up another in Chile’s World Cup qualifying win.
The story of the week came from South America after a video emerged of Peru fans using a tortoise to put a curse on Sanchez ahead of their clash last night.
It was pretty desperate considering the qualifying campaign for Russia 2018 was only one game old.
And it now just looks ridiculous after the Arsenal striker inspired his country to a hard-fought 4-3 win.
Sanchez grabbed two goals of his own before laying one on for team-mate Eduardo Vargas – who also got a double – in the game:

That Peruvian black magic isn’t up to much then?
We shouldn’t really have expected any different anyway given Sanchez’s recent scoring form.
The Gunner now has nine goals in his last five games and looks bang in form ahead of Arsenal’s evening English Premier League match with Watford on Saturday.
