Sebastian Giovinco Dismisses Any Barcelona Move in Favour of Staying at Toronto

Sebastian Giovinco has made the bizarre move of dismissing any potential move to Barcelona in favour of staying with MLS side Toronto.

The little Italian attacker has been running riot with the league since making the move from Juventus in January.

It was a surprising switch at the time considering Giovinco is just 28 and still represents the Italian national team.

But it looks to be paying off, with the striker having scored 22 goals in just 31 games so far in Canada.

He was a 79th-minute substitute in Italy’s 3-1 victory over Azerbaijan on Saturday and made a big impact by drawing the foul which saw opponent Badavi Huseynov sent off late on and he almost hit the net too as he saw a stunning free-kick effort crash off the crossbar.

All this impressive recent form has seen his name linked with a move to Spanish giants Barca.

Yet he refused to get anywhere close to being excited about a potential move when asked by Rai Sport in the aftermath of Saturday’s game.

Giovinco said:

No, I’m happy where I am. I only just changed club, so let me enjoy this adventure first.

So Toronto fans can rest assured that your little Italian genius isn’t going anywhere – even if one of the world’s biggest teams comes calling.
