Petr Cech is the best goalkeeper English Premier League, according to statistics from EA Sports’ Player Performance Index.
The Arsenal goalkeeper has been an ever-present for the Gunners in the league this term, playing 900 minutes over 10 matches.
It’s no coincidence that Arsene Wenger’s men are joint-top of the table on 22 points alongside Manchester City.
And these statistics further support the view that the Arsenal boss made the right move in signing Cech from Chelsea in a £10million deal during the summer.
He beats out Crystal Palace’s Alex McCarthy and Tottenham stopper Hugo Lloris into first place in this stats table, making 4.6 saves for every goal conceded.
Just as impressively, the Czech Republic goalie only concedes every 112.5minutes:
Cech played second choice to Thibaut Courtois throughout Chelsea Premier League title-winning campaign last season.
So it was no surprise to see him leave Stamford Bridge after 11 trophy-laden years with the club.
But the injury to Courtois, and lack of good form from new backup stopper Asmir Begovic, perhaps has Jose Mourinho and Chelsea regretting the sale of Cech – particularly when you see the above statistics.
Cech will next be in action for Arsenal when they take on Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
