England named their squad for the forthcoming squad for the Euro 2016 qualifiers against Lithuania and Estonia, and, with qualification already secured, Roy Hodgson is branching out with his selection.
Perhaps most surprisingly, earlier today the Three Lions coach named Tottenham youngster Dele Alli in his 23-man squad for the seemingly straight-forward matches, despite the midfielder only starting three competitive games for Spurs.

To be fair to Alli, he has looked like an exciting prospect after making the most of an injury to Christian Eriksen and seizing his chance in Mauricio Pochettino’s side after excelling on loan at MK Dons last season, and playing a key part in the Dons’ 4-0 humbling of Manchester United in the League Cup.
Just a few months after playing League One football, the play-maker is suddenly in the international fold, but is he good enough to make the difference? Could he really go to the Euros? I think it’s probably fair to say the reactions have been mixed…
I like the fact that Hodgson has been bold and brave by calling up Dele Alli. We should applaud him for making an instinctive selection.

Dele Alli joins the list of undeserving Spurs players called up by Hodgson, along with Dawson, Livermore, Huddlestone, Mason & Townsend.

Had no idea Dele Alli was English. Starting to feel slightly more optimistic about the future of English football now.

Dele Alli, yes a very exciting talent, but 3 senior appearances for his club then gets called up, 2 3 years ago what about Britts?

Well done @dele_alli36 on getting his England call up. Can't believe @ericdier hasn't got his call up. He's been immense.

I bet Levy is grinning like a madman. 300 minutes of Prem football and Dele Alli's value just shot up by about 10 mill.

Gwan Dele Alli, totally deserved call up

Way to soon for Dele Alli, has the potential but shouldn't be rushed

Dele Alli's call up is well deserved, can't wait to see the local lad in action! Possibly the first Milton Keynesian to play for England!
