UEFA have ruled that Dinao Zagreb will not be punished for their Champions League win over Arsenal despite one of their players failing a drugs test, according to Goal.com.
The footie site claim to have spoken directly to European football’s governing body about the matter – and have revealed that no points will be deducted from the Croatian side.
Midfielder Arijan Ademi was last night found to have failed the doping test following their opening group match on September 16.
Zagreb went on to win the match 2-1 with Ademi playing the full 90 minutes.
Arsene Wenger’s side followed up that loss with another shock 3-2 defeat to Greek side Olympiacos at the Emirates in their second group tie.
And UEFA have now confirmed that Arsenal will remain without any points regardless of Ademi’s failed drugs test.
A statement said: “Only in the case of more than two players from the same team having been found to have committed a doping violation in the same competition are team sanctions imposed.”
Arsenal are staring at an early exit from the Champions League following their opening two defeats. Up next they face a double-header against German champions Bayern Munich.
