Arsenal legend Robert Pires turns 42 today and what better way to celebrate the former midfielder than by taking a look back at his glittering career.

The Frenchman won two Premier League titles, three FA Cups, the World Cup and the 1998 European Championship during his illustrious career.

Pires also made 284 appearances for Arsenal scoring a scrumptious 84 goals, many of which could easily be classified by the term ‘absolute worldie’.

The former Gunner was even voted in as the 6th best player in the club’s history by the Arsenal supporters – high praise indeed when you look at the names that have been printed on the back of the famous red shirt.

And while Pires will always be remembered for coming in off the left and producing delightful link up play with his teammates – one thing which always sticks in your mind when you think of that magical goatee is brilliant goals.

He scored them all, long range screamers, gravity-defying lobs and the odd wonderful curler.
