Louis van Gaal gave yet another memorable press conference ahead of Manchester United’s trip to Everton today.
The Old Trafford boss insisted that everyone involved at the club had to take some level of blame for their 3-0 defeat to Arsenal before the international break – even the club chef.
The Dutchman’s statement provoked quite the reaction from the British press and was a talking point on the Fletch and Sav show this morning.
During a discussion on the BT Sport show, guest punter, and former Manchester United striker, Michael Owen revealed his understanding that players weren’t allowed to eat at the training ground until Van Gaal sat down at his table.
This prompted another story from German journalist Rafa Honigstein, who explained a bizarre dinner table incident from LVG’s time in charge of Bayern Munich.
Honigstein told how Van Gaal once grabbed Italian striker Luca Toni by the ear in front of the whole squad because he had started to eat before the manager had taken his seat with the team.
