Celtic summed up their embarrassing Europa League campaign tonight as they suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Ajax to crash out of the tournament with one game remaining.
Ronny Deila and his side were under massive pressure from fans after back to back defeats from Norwegian side Molde and a win was a must tonight if they were to have any chance of qualifying for the last 32.
However, their time is up following the loss to the Dutch league leaders leaving many fans wondering what’s next after Deila received a full backing from the board at last week’s AGM.
One man who could have changed tonight’s game was Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths who missed chance after chance in the second half to put his side back in the lead.
The hit-man has been the key player for his side all season but was far from his best tonight and he took to Twitter after the game to have a go at his own performance and apologise to fans.
I can't be more apologetic than I am right now. My performance was Simply SHOCKING and ultimately its cost us dearly. ???

Celtic travel to Istanbul in two weeks time to take on Fenerbahce in, what is now, a meaningless game.
