Crystal Palace’s Martin Kelly Confirmed as Safe in Paris Attacks

Crystal Palace defender Martin Kelly was confirmed as safe after being right in the middle of awful attacks on the city of Paris last night.

The Englishman was at a bar called Cafe la Perle – one of four targets for terrorists in the French capital.

Kelly – a former player at Liverpool too – was on holiday in the city as he enjoyed some time off due to the international break.

He shared this picture to Instagram last night, just hours before a series of attacks around the city:

Found a decent little spot for tonight #paris #cafelaperle

It’s one of the most devastating attacks on the country, with at least two restaurants attached by gunmen and a suicide bomber targeting the surrounding area of the Stade de France.

The city’s iconic Bataclan Theatre was also targeted, with almost 100 people believed to have been taken hostage before French authorities seized the building.

According to reports, at least 128 have been killed in the worst terrorist attack since the 2004 Madrid bombings.

Crystal Palace took to Twitter last night to confirm that Kelly is safe despite being in the vicinity of one of the attacks:

Like every story we’ve written on the Paris atrocities, our thoughts and prayers go to everyone affected.
