Manchester United Players’ Brilliant Nickname For Louis van Gaal is ‘Daisy’

He’s one of the most intimidating managers in world football today and someone you’d dare not cross if you were at his club.

But apparently the Manchester United players aren’t afraid of Louis van Gaal enough to avoid giving him a really embarrassing dressing room nickname.

Remarkably, according to the Daily Mirror and The Sun, the Red Devils’ Dutch boss is known around the club’s Carrington training ground as ‘Daisy’, as a reference to how slow he drives his car in and out of the state-of-the-art complex, which is situated at the end of a narrow country road.

The nickname refers to the movie Driving Miss Daisy, and also eludes to the fact that van Gaal drives at such a slow speed because he is terrified of crashing into ditches or skidding off the road, and players have complained at being stuck behind him on their way to training.

I wonder if they ever call him Daisy to his face? Who knows.
