Students at Jonah Lomu’s Former School Perform Emotional Haka as Farewell Tribute

Some athletes transcend sport, and Jonah Lomu was certainly one of them.

Regarded as one of the greatest Rugby players of all-time, we brought you news in the early hours of this morning that Lomu had passed away suddenly at just 40-years-old.

Reports claim the All Blacks legend died of a cardiac arrest in his home and the death was unexpected.

Tributes from fans, admirers, team-mates and other sporting icons poured in from all around the globe, but one gesture meant a little more than most.

That’s because it came from Lomu’s former school in Auckland, and came in the form of the inspirational Haka that the man himself performed dozens of times before going into battle for his country.

Despite the profound affect his death must have had on the students of Welsey College, they all came together in a massive huddle on the school’s front lawn to perform the pre-match ritual in their hero’s honour.

A brilliant, brilliant tribute.
