Majeed Waris is probably not a happy chappy this afternoon.
That’s because the Lorient striker has just been handed a six-match ban for a ludicrous tackle he was responsible for during the weekend’s match against Guingamp.
Waris – a Ghana international – was left furious after a tackle from winger Jimmy Briand during the 2-2 draw which wasn’t given as a foul by the referee.
He swiftly reacted by launching into a crazy kung fu-style kick on his Briand, which, unsurprisingly, resulted in a straight red card.
The so-called ‘tackle’ earned Waris an automatic two-match suspension but LFP’s disciplinary committee opted to extend his ban to six matches, the most they can hand out in normal circumstances.

It took Waris a few minutes to calm down too, as he stormed off down the tunnel, kicking water bottles in frustration on his way.
Remarkably, Briand was also sent off for his reaction, although it remains to be seen if his red card will be rescinded.
