Without question, 2015 has been the year of Conor McGregor.
The UFC superstar has hammered home his superiority in the sport since winning the interim featherweight championship in July and is aiming to put the tin lid on his breakout year by beating bitter rival Jose Aldo next month.
The duo are set to finally meet on December 12 in Las Vagas after Aldo pulled out of a hotly anticipated bout earlier this year with a rib injury.
And McGregor is itching to beat Aldo and become the unified world champion more than ever, as he absolutely detests being called the “interim” world champion.
Someone should’ve told BT Sport reporter Gareth A Davies before he sat down with McGregor earlier this week, as he the Irishman left him in no uncertain terms not to use the ‘I’ word.
“I’m the three time World Champion. There aint no interim in this.”
“I’m a World Champion. He’s a World Champion. We’re going to find out who is the unified World Champion.”
It is four months to the day since Conor McGregor last fought in the the Octagon But whilst his second round stoppage over Chad Mendes was the biggest win over the Dubliner’s career, defeating Jose Aldo would take things to a whole new level.
