With the festive season in full swing and the NFL regular season nearing its conclusion, the Baltimore Ravens decided to host their annual Christmas charity event on Monday night.
Ravens veteran wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. was of course in attendance, however, it appears the 36-year-old used the event to fire a warning shot at ol’ Kris Kringle.
Baltimore were treating 60 deserving Baltimore-area kids to a $200 Target shopping spree Monday evening when Smith claimed Santa’s days could be numbered if he visited his house this year.
Yes, Smith claimed that if Santa came down his chimney this Christmas Eve, the former Carolina Panther would lay the ‘Smackdown’ on his candy ass.
Smith told the Ravens website:
“You come down my chimney in the middle of the night, that’s going to be your last delivery”
It’s really no surprise that Smith isn’t in the best of moods right now, after all the five-time Pro Bowler just underwent season-ending Achilles surgery and is getting around with his right leg propped up on a cart.
When asked what Smiths would like for Christmas, he replied:
“A healthy Achilles…”
Smith added: “It’s been tough.
“If this event was three weeks ago, I wouldn’t be as smiley. I was down and depressed and feeling a certain way.
“It’s been a real challenge because of the dependency and the helplessness that I’ve felt.”
