There’s no doubt about it: Eden Hazard is definitely one of the hottest talents in world football at the moment.
Despite his slightly ropey start to this season – accompanied by a similar start by his team, Chelsea – Hazard could have his pick of pretty much any club on the planet, if and when he decides to leave west London for pastures new.
But who does the silky winger rate as one of the most skilful team-mates he’s ever had? He’s lined-up alongside some top players in his time; from Kevin de Bruyne to Cesc Fabregas.
But it may surprise you who he mentions ahead of the glut of stylish players he’s had the pleasure of sharing a pitch with.
Step forward Gervinho.
Yip, that’s right, the man who flopped at Arsenal is regarded by Hazard to be one of the most skilful players he’s ever come up played with, and reckons the current Roma winger is a real talent.
Via The Evening Standard, Hazard revealed when asked which of his former team-mates he counts as the best: “I played with Gervinho at Lille, he had a lot of skill and he was very quick as well.
“In the national team we have a lot of them: Yannick Carrasco, a young player at Atletico Madrid, Dries Mertens, Kevin De Bruyne, Kevin Mirallas, they are all very good and like to show their skills in matches.”
We have to admit, we would’ve been guessing all day before we’d arrived at Gervinho.
Fair play, Eden. We all have opinions…no matter how wrong they are. Only joking.
