Liverpool fans must be desperate for the January transfer window to open so they don’t have to spend every single day reading about a potential Bundesliga target.
Ever since Jurgen Klopp took the reins at Anfield, the club have been linked with just about every single Dortmund player possible – one of those being Ilkay Gundogan.
The German international was in action for Klopp’s former employers tonight in the DFB Pokal where he faced off against Liverpool’s future Europa League opponents Augsburg in a 2-0 victory.
Two goals in five minutes were enough to seal the deal for Dortmund, however, it was no plain sailing for Gundogan who was carried off the park to have his lips stapled.
The 25-year-old was left bloody and battered after a head-on-head collision and had to receive treatment where TV cameras captured his lips being put back together.
Gundogan having his mouth stapled on live TV has been the highlight of my night #BVB

It's not Gündogan's day today, sadly.

The midfielder soldiered on though as he returned to action before being substituted in the 84th minute.
Nada grave, solo era un golpe en la boca, ya esta de nuevo Gundogan, GUERRERO. ?? pic.twitter.com/FxtAR9H5GH
