Jamie Carragher is having the day of his dreams after Liverpool beat Southampton 6-1 and Gary Neville quit Sky Sports to become the new Valencia manager.
The Anfield legend has been Neville’s partner on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football coverage since joining the TV company in 2013.
They’ve regularly played off their rivalry as players for Liverpool and Manchester United, but the pair had developed a reputation for being two of the finest pundits in football.
Yet the opportunity for Carragher to poke fun at Neville following his Sky exit has been too good to resist – with the former Kop star first comparing it to the day Pegguy Arphexad left Liverpool.
Now he’s followed that up by celebrating his old club’s beating of Southampton tonight in the Capital One Cup and Neville’s exit.
Carragher posted the following brilliant tweet earlier this evening:
What a night Lfc 4-1 up & no more Gary Neville⚽️??

Quality patter from Carragher on a day he became Sky Sports’ best pundit.
Liverpool actually went on to beat Southampton 6-1 to make the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup.
It really is a great night to be a Liverpool supporter.
