Petr Cech had a great response for a reporter asking about who saw Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Olympiacos in Greece coming.
The Gunners salvaged an otherwise poor Champions League group stage campaign with last night’s dominant win over the Greek champions.
They travelled for their final group game knowing that anything below a two-goal win would see them fall into the Europa League.
And, thanks to Olivier Giroud’s brilliant hat-trick, they managed to get that two-goal lead and more.
Cech put in another assured performance as he kept a clean sheet in one of Arsenal’s best-ever away performances.
Then he spoke to the media post-match – and told one reporter that Arsene Wenger’s squad definitely saw the result coming after he was asked if anyone did.
Arsenal now go into Monday’s last 16 draw and have two months to prepare for the challenge of continuing in Europe’s premier competition.
And Wenger will be hoping he can see a number of top players return from injury in that time, including Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez.
