He’s always been regarded as the fastest man on Arsenal’s books ever since arriving from Southampton in 2007, but it looks as though Theo Walcott’s crown could finally be under threat from one of his team-mates.
The man in question is right-back Hector Bellerin, with the Spaniard breaking into the Gunner’s first-team last season, thanks in no small part to his blistering pace.
As we told you around that time, Bellerin is so fast that he actually clocks a better time over 40 meters than Usain Bolt.
But is he really faster than Walcott, the Premier League’s speed king for the last 10 years? Walcott is pretty fast, remember.
Well, perhaps it’s been playing on Theo’s mind a bit, because in a recent interview with the guys at Copa 90, he decided to finally address the debate once and for all…and you can probably guess how he answered.
“It wouldn’t be over 100 meters…but I would win. Oh, he’s quick – the thing about Hector is he’s quick right away.”
So, there you have it. All hail King Theo, apparently.
