With Gary Neville out of the picture, Jamie Carragher is trying to make himself stand out as Sky’s lead football pundit.
The former Liverpool man is now all alone in the permanent ‘analyst’ role on the company’s Monday Night Football show, but it hasn’t held him back from sharing his rather forthright opinions.
The latest victim in the firing line was Chelsea’s Diego Costa, and Carragher showed no mercy in absolutely slaughtering the Spain international at half-time of the Blues’ match against Leicester.
With Chelsea trailing 1-0 at the break, host Ed Chamberlain showed a clip of Costa seemingly telling his team’s defence that they had been asleep during Jamie Vardy’s opener, with Carragher quickly interjecting to insist that Cost had been “sleeping all season”.

He’s not endured the best of campaigns but does Costa deserve such harsh criticism? Especially when he has no right of reply?
And is Carragher perhaps being a touch opportunistic, and kicking a good player when he’s down?
