Yesterday, I got the chance to talk to Marquis Wimberly, a former Chaffery College standout who has offers from 12 Division One colleges, including Marshall, UAB, and UNLV, a school he was formerly committed to. We talked about when he’ll sign with a college, his visits, and his favorite NFL players.

*Update – Wimberly chose UAB as the school he would attend during National Signing Day!*
Peter Elliott: You just received an offer from Marshall University. What do the Thundering Herd bring to the table for you?
Marquis Wimberly: A lot! A great program, tradition, and winning attitude. Plus, an opportunity to play, since two senior wideouts graduate and that’s two open spots.
PE: Are there any other schools that you are interested in playing for?
MW: A few. I like Temple, Louisville, and Minnesota.
PE: Will you make a visit to all of the 12 teams that have given scholarship offers to you?
MW: No. I’m visiting UAB this weekend and either Marshall or Texas State next weekend!
PE: When do you see yourself making your college announcement?
MW: February 3rd more than likely. I’ll sign that day too.
PE: What makes you different from other wideouts?
MW: I think my will and work ethic. I came from nothing and have been overlooked my whole life, so I take every opportunity and give it my all. Also, I can play the inside or outside slot, and I’m pretty fluent at both. That helps me with my recruiting.
PE: What player do you mold your game after/look up to?
MW: My favorite three are Dez Bryant, Antonio Brown, and DeAndre Hopkins. I see a little of myself in each of them, but probably Dez the most.
