An Interview with Thomas Cletcher, a Louisiana Tech commit and former Fullerton College standout

Freshman Linebacker Thomas Cletcher had a tremendous 2015 season, racking up 70 tackles and 6 ½ sacks this year for Fullerton College. And on December 14th, the 6’0” 225-pounder committed to Louisiana Tech. In this interview, we talk about his college choice, his role among his teammates, and his favorite soccer team.

Peter Elliott: In December, you committed to Louisiana Tech. Why did you choose the Bulldogs over the University of Texas – San Antonio?

Thomas Cletcher: Well, Louisiana Tech definitely seemed like the right fit for me to continue my college football career. I saw myself moving on to somewhere like that and having a lot of success.

PE: How has playing football at Fullerton College affected your career?

TC: Tremendously. It put me in an excellent spot to get recognized and play at a Division 1 level.

PE: What is one quality you possess that you’d like people to know you have?

TC: My work ethic. I wasn’t blessed genetically, but working hard has blessed me with the opportunities I have today.

PE: Do you consider yourself a leader among your teammates?

TC: Yes sir. I think at my position, you have to be a leader.

PE: What player do you mold your game after/look up to?

TC: [Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker] Ray Lewis. In my personal opinion, he’s the greatest linebacker ever. I’ve been able to watch him play personally.

PE: How will you prepare for the upcoming season? What does your training schedule look like?

TC: I spend time in the weight room every day getting bigger, faster, and stronger. I will also spend a good amount of time putting in speed work as well as on the field.

PE: What do you want to say to fans of Louisiana Tech?

TC: *Marshawn Lynch voice* “You know why I’m here.”

PE: Who is your favorite soccer/football team?

TC: The United States Women’s Soccer team.

That’s a good choice! Thanks to Thomas for doing the interview, and best of luck to him for the upcoming season.
