Andreas Pereira scored straight from a corner in a strong appearance for Manchester United’s Under-21 side last night.
The Brazilian playmaker is highly-rated at Old Trafford and has been handed six games for the top team this season by Louis van Gaal – most of those coming off the bench.
But with him performing well for the club’s second string, you’d expect fans will get to see much more going forward in the second half of the campaign.
Pereira’s latest came in the 3-1 victory over Tottenham’s Under-21 team last night, with the 20-year-old midfielder scoring two goals – the second a beautifully whipped corner which left Spurs goalie Thomas Glover with no chance.
United have found it hard enough to score goals consistently this season, but if they’ve got a player who can even hit the net from a corner, why not throw him in more?
Young midfielder James Weir got the other goal on the night while Joe Pritchard got a consolation for Spurs.
