Online FIFA 16 addicts are unable to get their fix tonight because of a PlayStation Network outage which is going into its ninth hour.
It’s not just FIFA gamers who can’t get online, Call of Duty, Fallout, Grand Theft Auto and any other game with network features are not playable.
That’s as a result of a period of outage which has so far not been explained, with Sony saying the network was “experiencing issues” earlier today, but refusing to go into any detail about the cause.
It’s not a great start to 2016 for PSN – who will be determined to avoid the infamous 23-day downtime they experienced in 2011 due to criminal intrusion.
Their status page still shows that there are issues across the board on PS3, PS4 and PS Vita tonight and the latest update given via Twitter did not include a timescale for a fix:
We are still working on resolving today's issues with PSN. Thanks for your continued patience. For current status: https://t.co/cLXo9fGH27

A quick look at the responses to that tweet shows the mood of the PSN community is not a happy one.
And it’s the angry FIFA 16 fans who we’re most interested in hearing from – with some getting awful shouty on Twitter:
Their reaction is probably a little something like this..
