Lee Wallace: We Certainly Receive A Lot Worse Than a Fist Pump

Andy Halliday’s controversial red card against Morton may have been on Monday night, but the decision appears to still be causing upset at Ibrox several days later.

In case you missed it, the Rangers midfielder was shown a second yellow card, and subsequently a red, during the Gers’ 2-0 Championship win at Cappielow after aiming a fist pump in the direction of Morton’s fans in the wake of his side’s second goal.


The dismissal didn’t cost Mark Warburton’s men on the night, but Halliday will now be unavailable for Saturday’s key clash at home to promotion rivals Falkirk, and his team-mates aren’t happy about it.

Speaking via the official Rangers Twitter feed ahead of the clash, club captain Lee Wallace let his feelings be known, and insisted that players regularly receive far harsher abuse from the stands than a raised fist…

Wallace and co go into the match five points clear at the top of the division, with their opponents sitting third, two points further back and still in with a shout of having a say in where the title ends up in May.
