Stats Show Odion Ighalo Would Improve ‘Dream’ Club Manchester United’s Attack

The January transfer window is upon us and it’s fair to say that Manchester United are probably on the lookout for a striker or two.

Manager Louis van Gaal shipped out Javier Hernandez, Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie last summer, leaving him with just Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial as viable options in attack.

United fans have looked on as their team set a new record for 0-0 draws this season, crashing out of the Champions League at the group stage in the process.

But they may not have too look too far to find a solution to their goalscoring problems, with Watford forward Odion Ighalo admitting a move to Old Trafford would be too good to turn down.

He told Sky Sports: “I don’t think I will be moving but I’m not sure I’d say no if United called.

“They were my team growing up. I loved watching Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke on TV.

“They were my idols and playing at Old Trafford has always been a dream.”

And the stats show that he could add a wealth of talent to the Red Devils’ front line, with the 26-year-old finding the net 14 times in the top-flight this season.

Club captain Wayne Rooney has been below par for the majority of the campaign and has scored just twice in the league.

Martial, meanwhile, enjoyed a brilliant start to life in England after he came off the bench to score against the club’s bitter rivals Liverpool on his debut.

But the Frenchman has only been on target three times in total and has been emphatically outperformed by Ighalo, who cost a fraction of the huge transfer fee United paid Monaco for Martial in the summer.

Would Ighalo fit in at one of the biggest clubs in the world?
