Benik Afobe Slams Wolves Chief’s Attempt to Make Him a ‘Scapegoat’

Benik Afobe has hit back at Wolves’ claims that he didn’t put in any effort in games leading up to his move to Bournemouth.

The English striker sealed a £10million move from Molineux to the Vitality Stadium in January.

It was reward for a goal-laden time with the Championship club, for whom he scored 23 goals in 48 matches.

But it appears there is still some bad blood on Wolves’ part, with club recruitment chief Kevin Thelwell claiming that Afobe downed tools after learning that his former club wouldn’t sell.

In the end, Afobe got his move, but that’s only as a result of his effort, according to Thelwell.

Now the Cherries striker has hit back at those claims on Twitter this afternoon:

He went on to add:

Afobe has been an automatic starter under Eddie Howe since signing for the club last month and has hit the net three times in five Premier League appearances.

As for Wolves, they’ve won just one of their six games since Afobe’s exit and manager Kenny Jackett will be left wondering where the big goals are going to come from now he’s left the team.
