We can only applaud Bordeaux for making the most of announcing their signing of Mathieu Debuchy.
The Arsenal full-back has joined the Ligue 1 club on a loan deal until the end of the season – a move which should see him resurrect his hopes of appearing at Euro 2016 for France.
There has been a flurry of activity throughout today – the final day of the January transfer window – and it’s easy to lose sight of the finer details of a deal.
But we’re delighted we caught the brilliant hashtag used by Bordeaux as they announced the deal for Debuchy on Twitter earlier.
With a name like Mathieu, it was only right they rolled out the #WelcomeMat:

Outstanding from Bordeaux – we hope it was a deliberate play on words, mind you.
More seriously for Debuchy, the move to Bordeaux should see him end his two-month spell off the pitch.
He last made a first team appearance for Arsenal in their Champions League clash with Dinamo Zagreb on November 24, with Hector Bellerin nailing down the right-back position in Arsene Wenger’s team.
The former Newcastle defender now has a chance to play regular first team football back in his homeland and that should be a big advantage in his bid to be included in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for Euro 2016 in the summer.
As for his Arsenal future, it remains to be seen whether he can fight his way back into Wenger’s plans from next season onwards.
