Cardiff Owner Vincent Tan Gives Players Bizarre Pep Talk On Ugly Men With Beautiful Wives

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has delivered a bizarre pep talk to the club’s players revolving around how ugly men attract beautiful wives.

The eccentric Malaysian owner has courted controversy on several occasions since taking over the Welsh club in 2010, and it appears he isn’t becoming any more shy or retiring as he gets older.

The Bluebirds are currently ninth in the Championship table, five points from the play-off positions, and Tan obviously felt he needed to step in and give manager Russell Slade a helping hand when it comes to motivating his players.

According to Wales Online, the billionaire addressed the squad at their Vale of Glamorgan training base earlier this week, and went off on a series of bizarre tangents.

He told the publication: “I gave them a pep talk and said they have GOT to start shooting.

“I told them David Marshall is keeping clean sheets, yet look at the stats. There are more draws than wins. David is doing his bit of the bargain, I told them, so clearly you guys are not scoring enough.

“In every match I want to see 30 or 40 attempts on goal, at least. Just shoot from 25, 30 yards, I told them.

“What’s the point of passing, passing, passing and hoping to get in the box that way. Unless you’re Lionel Messi looking for a tap in, it’s not going to work.

“I watch every Cardiff match and I told them ‘You guys have no confidence’. Peter Whittingham is capable of shooting and scoring score goals from 30 yards, so have a go, I said.

“Yet they get the ball and it seems to be like a hot potato. Pass it to somebody else straight away. You must see that, because I do.

“The law of averages says the more you shoot, the more you’ll score. If you shoot 30 times you’ll get three goals, 40 times will be four goals, 50 times and you’ll get five goals.

“Don’t respond by saying I know nothing about football. I’ve learned an awful lot, I see players regularly scoring in the Premier League from distance and we have to do that.

“It’s very well passing, passing, passing, but do you get points for possession? No. When they change the rules, then pass the ball and keep passing the ball.

“But right at this moment the rules are you have to get the ball in the net. And you only do that by shooting.

“Have you seen ugly men walking around with a very beautiful wife? Well that’s because they’ve asked 30, 40, 50 times before getting a yes.

“On the other hand, you’ll see a handsome man ask once, get a ‘no’ in response and that’s it.

“So the more you try, the more success you’ll have. We need a lot more goal attempts, we’ll score more and win games.

“Not only that, the fans will love it, too.”

Wow. Just…wow.

We’re all for owners being more involved with their clubs, but this is just, well, a bit too involved.

Or are we wrong here? Does he have a point?

We’re not entirely sure about his beautiful women point, but, hey, if we’ve missed anything, please let us know in the comments section below…
