CM Punk’s UFC Debut Delayed by Surgery

The answer to the  seemingly neverending question of CM Punk’s UFC debut just got a bit more vague.

MMA insider Ariel Helwani reported on Wednesday that Punk underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair a herniated disc in his back that has been nagging him since his days in WWE. There is no set timetable for his recovery or the fight itself.

Just last Saturday, Punk was in the Octagon with his future first opponent Mickey Gall after Gall choked out Mike Jackson in the first round of their UFC Fight Night preliminary matchup, with many criticizing the “staged” nature of the event.

This certainly gives Punk doubters more ammo, as many believe that this is simply a publicity stunt by Punk and the UFC to garner mainstream attention, and that Punk will never fight in the Octagon.

Only time will tell when Punk and Gall will face off.
