Fans Give Ian Black An Absolute Pounding For His Performance Against Man Utd

Ian Black turned out for Shrewsbury Town against Manchester United tonight, and it looks like the former Rangers midfielder continues to divide fans – to put it kindly.

Black joined the English League One club last summer after being released by the Ibrox club, and he’s became a mainstay in Micky Mellon’s side.

He anchored the midfield during Monday night’s FA Cup last-16 tie, and was pitted against the likes of Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Morgan Schneiderlin in the middle of the park.

Any hopes of an upset were quickly extinguished, with United leading 2-0 at half-time and enjoying 79% possession at half-time against the side 60 places below them in the English football pyramid. Jesse Lingard added a third on the hour mark to leave the score 3-0 at the time this article was published.

Black’s uncompromising style never really won over the hearts or minds of supporters in Scotland, and his shadow-chasing performance against Louis van Gaal’s men prompted a wave of criticism online.

He really does provoke a strong reaction, doesn’t he?
