We have to admit that we weren’t particularly aware of this, but it turns out Arsenal duo Mathieu Flamini and Mesut Ozil have one of the biggest bromances currently in British football.
The pair regularly feature together in the Gunners’ midfield, but that’s far from the end of their partnership, as many of their team-mates will testify.
In the run-up to today’s Premier League match between Arsenal and Bournemouth, broadcasters Sky Sports conducted an interview with Ozil and Flamini, as per the clip above, and questioned them on their close relationship, as well as their side’s chances of winning their first league title since 2004 this season.
Mathieu Flamini returned to London for a second spell at Arsenal in August 2013 – just a few days before Arsene Wenger pulled off the massive £42 million deal to bring Ozil to the Emirates.
Flamini made it his job to take the World Cup winner under his wing and their friendship blossomed – much to the amusement of fellow Gooners.
Perhaps the most revealing comments come from the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Danny Welbeck and Laurent Koscielny, with one of the stars jokingly suggesting Ozil and Flamini even follow each other to the toilets.
Arsenal won the match against Bournemouth 2-0, with Ozil getting on the score sheet, along with Oxlade-Chamberlain.
