Poor Michael Owen, eh.
The former Manchester United and Liverpool striker has been coming in for stick for some of his comments during commentary for broadcasters BT Sport, and now he’s finally had enough.
We have to admit, we’re as guilty as anyone when it comes to pointing out some of Owen’s rather obvious remarks, but he does seem to take more than his fair share of criticism.
This morning, it all got a bit much for him, and he directed his ire at the Daily Star newspaper in particular, with the tabloid running an article on some of Owen’s alleged recent faux pas during the weekend’s Man City v Leicester match:
Good old Daily Star. Probably sell around 33 copies a day compared to my 3.3m followers. #Desperate pic.twitter.com/yxRctuj5PN

In this day and age it's amazing how people can print such 'quotes' and get away with it. No wonder nobody buys such drivel nowadays.

I reckon I've forgotten more about football than their 'expert' journalists will ever know. #JogOn https://t.co/Mf2Hcls2Kt

We know he’s not exactly a philosopher of the game but does he really deserve his title as the country’s anti-Gary Neville?
We’re not entirely sure why when Owen opens his mouth it seems to evoke such strong emotions amongst football fans. And by the looks of it, neither is he.
