Everton have probably given George Shaw one of the best days of his life today, after announcing that the nine-year-old with cerebral palsy had won their Goal of the Month award for January.
George was invited to the Swansea game at Goodison Park as a guest of Gerard Deulofeu last month after an inspiring video of him playing football in the Spaniard’s No.19 shirt went viral.
He then met Deulofeu and the rest of the Toffees’ stars before taking part in the half-time entertainment, and scoring a goal into the Gwladys Street End:

And earlier this evening, Everton revealed that Shaw had seen off competition from Aaron Lennon, Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku to scoop the gong, winning 86% of the award.
George was absolutely thrilled with the award, and was quoted in the Daily Star as saying: “I never thought I would win, I thought I’d come close because of all the support I’ve had but I can’t believe I won.
“Thank you to everyone who voted for me.”
Now, if that doesn’t brighten up your week, nothing will. Well done to everyone who voted for George, and well done to Everton!
