Daniel Bryan will officially retire as a WWE superstar at Monday Night Raw in Seattle.
The American Dragon announced the news on Twitter earlier this evening, confirming that his recent struggles with injury have been too much for his body to take.
He’s been unable to wrestle since picking up an injury in April last year – the latest of which was concussion-related – but it was thought he would make a return at some point in 2016.
However, that won’t be the case, with his body paying the price for a 17-year career spent honing his action-packed style.
Bryan – who is married to WWE Diva Brie Bella – took to Twitter around 6pm (UK time) to inform his fans that he’ll appear on Raw tonight to explain the decision:
Due to medical reasons, effective immediately, I am announcing my retirement. Tonight on Raw, I'll have a chance to elaborate. #gratitude
